Membrane Patch Colourimetry

Make informed decisions about your oil to eliminate component failure and damage. Monitor the level of insoluble contaminants present in your oil with LogicOils’ MPC.

MPC Varnish Potential Testing (Optional) 

Membrane Patch Colourimetry is used to measure the colour of insoluble contaminants in lubricating oils to ASTM D7843.

This can determine the propensity for lubricating oils to form varnish deposits on components, leading to increased wear, component failure and costly downtime.

MPC testing is particularly important in applications such as:

  • Hydraulic systems
  • Gas turbines
  • Compressors
  • Steam turbines
  • Bearing lube systems

It is advised for MPC testing to be carried out monthly and for MPC values to be maintained at ΔE<15 to prevent deposit formation.

ASTM D7843

ASTM D7843 is the standard test method for the measurement of Lubricant Generated Insoluble Color Bodies in in-service Turbine Oils using MPC (Membrane Patch Colorimetry). The method involves extracting insoluble contaminants from a sample on to a membrane patch, the colour of which is then analysed.
